A family of four stands around a kitchen table at sunset, calmly organizing emergency supplies. The father holds a flashlight and water jug, the mother packs canned goods into a green bag, while the daughter examines a face mask and the son holds a metal cup near a red first aid kit. The mood is thoughtful and prepared, set in a cozy suburban home.

We’re not ex-military, off-grid survivalists, or here to sell fear. We’re just normal people who care less about forming fire teams and distrusting our neighbors—and more about protecting our families and being ready for the unexpected. Whether it's another pandemic like COVID, an asteroid like 2024 R4, or a solar flare that knocks out the grid, we believe it’s just common sense to think ahead. Are we preppers? Maybe in the broadest sense—because if you’ve ever stocked up for a storm or made a backup plan, you are too.

But we’re not the ones running bug-out drills or building underground shelters. For us, preparedness starts with fun, connection, and practical skills—things that bring people together, build memories, and yes, quietly double as preparation in case we ever have to leave home until things settle down.

What makes us different is our background: decades of experience in technology, infrastructure assessment, and transportation planning—not from a military lens, but from the civilian world. With experience from before GPS or smartphones, we are helping people, families, or communities move, plan, and recover. And now we’re applying that knowledge to help you plan for disruptions, whatever shape they take.

A vertical digital illustration in dark blue and purple tones shows a glowing tablet screen with a stylized neighborhood map, featuring a dotted route line connecting two large location pins. Surrounding the tablet are icons representing technology and infrastructure—such as a Wi-Fi signal, bus, game controller, camera, and analytics screen—connected by geometric data lines, evoking a sense of modern, civilian-focused emergency planning and preparedness.

We’re not doomsayers. We’re not claiming the world is ending tomorrow or that governments are about to collapse. But we also know history—and these things do happen. They have happened. And that’s why we prepare—not out of panic, but out of purpose.

The name Mad World 42 says it all. It’s a nod to the world we live in—chaotic, yes, but still full of hope. And “42,” for those who know Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, is the answer to everything through data and analytics. For us, it’s a reminder that knowledge, planning, and a bit of curiosity can help you make better choices when it really counts.

A vertical digital traffic map of a future planning app from Mad World 42 displays color-coded roadways over a dark background. Roads are highlighted based on traffic flow intensity, ranging from blue (low) to red (high). A legend labeled "Traffic Flow" shows this color gradient. Key highways and interstates are marked with white route numbers. A mini-map with a location pin in North America appears in the upper-right corner, and a vertical toolbar with icons for map settings and layers is visible on the left. The image emphasizes traffic density patterns across the region.

What We Do

Mad World 42 focuses on transportation and site planning for emergency readiness. Why transportation? Because in a real emergency, knowing how to move—or where to go—can matter more than what’s in your bug-out bag.

Here’s what we offer right now (with more to come):

  • Custom Routing: That can be used for emergencies but also used for interesting trips. One thing missing from Google and Apple maps, when you care about the route more than the fastest or most economical.

  • Property Readiness Evaluations: Want to know where you can go given a set of circumstances, what are the risk factors, how defensible, sustainable, or isolated your home or land is? We’ll tell you.

  • Offline Libraries: Books, manuals, maps, and emergency resources—no internet needed.

  • Whitepapers, blogs and Data Tools: Focused on transportation planning and prepping strategies that actually work the way you want them too.

We mix data analytics, geographic intelligence, and real-world experience to bring you modern tools for an uncertain future.
